Notes | Acquired by Franz Josef Micha, a former employee of the Department of Ethnology at the University of Bonn, from “Thomas” in London, presumably an auction house or antiquities dealer about whom no further information is known. Micha traveled to London on behalf of Hermann Trimborn to purchase objects for the department's collection with funds from the German Research Foundation (DFG). In 1957, he acquired nearly one hundred objects, which he sent to Bonn on August 25, 1957, including two bronze bird sculptures from Nigeria purchased from Thomas. |
