Circumstances of acquisition | Received as a loan and donation from the Royal Museum of Ethnology in Berlin together with two other relief fragments (IV Af 677 and 679). The Berlin museum received it from the company H. Bey operating at the Nigerian coast. The director of the Berlin museum, Felix von Luschan, bought a collection of artefacts from Bey in 1898. Later, these relief fragments then classified as dublets, were given to the Mannheim museum. |
