Object Name | High relief (copper alloy) plaque depicting a man wearing a pearl-beaded chest ornament, collar and cap, and hand cuffs. He holds a globe in his hands. Sun symbols are depicted at two corners of the plaque. |
Description | The rectangular plates with high reliefs are from the royal palace. Here is depicted a high-ranking man, with beaded chest sash, the royal ruff, beaded hood and braids, arm and leg cuffs. The red coral beads represent spiritual power and were very valuable. In his hand he holds a ball. The wraparound skirt is as richly decorated as the background of the plate. In the two preserved corners there are sun symbols. Text: Dietmar Neitzke. |
